LOST BODIES (2025)

Figures and Figuration were created for the LOST BODIES exhibition in March 2025, a duo show created by Ace Cresswell and Fanny Verhaege Gatine.

LOST BODIES is a group exhibition that explores two artists’ different perspectives and experiences regarding the human body and flesh. Referencing the feeling of losing all sense of self to find identity, pride and our true selves;  LOST BODIES provokes emotion, sensation, and invites viewers to question the way they are also perceived within the world. Combining photography, sculpture, painting, and video, the mixed media exhibition creates a reflective world of fragmented, multi-sensory, bodily experiences.’

Ace Cresswell uses confrontational figures to explore themes of identity, looking introspectively at his experience being trans; using them to reflect on the way that transgender people are perceived both internally and externally. He distorts the human body and pushes it into unconventional shapes, creating figures that demand the viewer to step closer and dissect the bodies.
